I painted a lemon still life miniature this evening. It’s oil on a 4 x 5″ linen covered panel. I tend to consider lemons being so fresh and light so now question my choice of a dark background. I sense it gives the impression of a much darker heavier fruit? I may revisit a still life with lemons on another occassion. The thought process through this painting was a little absent. Another long day and tonight I have little energy to be vitally enthusiastic. An interesting fact on lemons is that they are an good source of the antioxidant vitamin C and can help fight the formation of free radicals known to cause cancer? Of course they are also great for suppressing a sore throat and can also be used to bring out natural highlights in your hair!
